Unabashed

un·a·bashed (ŭn’ə-bāsht’) adj.

  1. Not disconcerted or embarrassed; poised.
  2. Not concealed or disguised; obvious: unabashedly female!

Unabashedly Female is about being what we are…Female, without hiding or disguising any part of ourselves. While this is a simple statement, in reality it can feel much more difficult. We have been told, from the time we were young, who we are, what we are, and what it is to be female. We continue to be ‘told’ by others, by the media, by our culture, by our friends, by our loved ones, and ultimately and most importantly, by ourselves. We have been conditioned to believe what it means to be female, and we have developed our self image based on this conditioning.

It seems that human beings are the only beings in nature that try very hard to be something other than what we are. We distrust our nature, our innate, intuitive instinctive nature. And, as women, this distrust goes deeper. Most of us distrust our deep female nature. We each have our own unique conditioning that adds to this distrust, but the thread for most of us is a distrust of our own femaleness.

For many of us, we tell ourselves we know who and what we are. But deep down inside, we know this is not true. We yearn to discover ourselves, to be whole and to live our lives from a place of authenticity, integrity and joy, the kind of simple joy that comes from living as one really is.

On the surface, there seem to be barriers to this knowing; yet, each day, we live many moments from a place of authenticity. It is in those moments of experience that we can feel our true nature. It is by way of experience, our own authentic felt experience, that we can be that which we long to be…what we truly are deep inside.

We already are what we long to be. How could we not be what we are? It’s just a learned belief that you don’t know, or can’t trust, your deepest nature.

Here at Unabashedly Female we will live and explore the question, “What is it to be Female?”. Along with our own experience, we will explore all the ways in which our true nature is reflected to us, whether it is in nature, other women, or even how many men do reflect back to us this nature and our worth.

We each hold seeds of wisdom, seeds of creativity and seeds of unconditional love. May we discover these and sow them willingly and consciously.

As one of my teachers says, thank goodness we are the only ones who can know what we are. If others were to be able to give us this, they could then take it away. When we discover for ourselves, the truth of our Being, and the truth of our nature, we know ourselves in a way that no one else can.

I look forward to sharing this discovery with you.

Unabashedly,

Julie
